Curator Talk: Jacob Lawrence & The Struggle Series

Virtual

Presented by Alabama Power, The Warner Foundation, and Vulcan Materials

November 19, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

On November 20, the BMA will open Jacob Lawrence: The American Struggle, an exhibition featuring the series of paintings Struggle…From the History of the American People (1954-56) by the iconic American modernist. The exhibition reunites the multi-paneled work for the first time in more than half a century.

Join Katelyn D. Crawford, The William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art, who is curating the exhibition at the BMA, for a conversation introducing the series with the exhibition’s curator Austen Barron Bailly, formerly of the Peabody Essex Museum and now Chief Curator at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Participants will have the opportunity to include a question when registering that may be included in the preceding Q&A discussion.

The event links and stream will appear on this page 10 minutes before the event starts.
