Visiting with a Group

Thank you for your interest in booking a docent-led group tour. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are suspending all group tours until the end of this calendar year, at which point we will reevaluate the safety of offering tours for the future. Please check out our health and safety procedures before your visit to help ensure the safety of you, other guests, and the Museum staff.

During your visit, explore our smartguide to give you access to fascinating audio, BMA Kids activities, and more on many works of art in our collection. Printed gallery activities like scavenger hunts and BMA bingo will also be available at the Museum entrances to lead you through the galleries.

Docent-led Tours

School Tours

Tours led by docents (volunteer guides) at the Museum are FREE. School tours can be booked for any group with children. Please note that tours must be booked at least three weeks in advance. Tours can be scheduled on Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am-3:30pm, Saturday from 10am-3:30pm, and Sunday from 12pm-3:30pm. Studio add-on classes are only available on weekdays in September through May. Needs-based assistance is available each fall and spring semester to cover bus transportation costs for schools visiting the Museum for a docent-led tour. This assistance is made possible through the generous support of the Docent Bus Fund Endowment and the Liebelt Bus Fund. To determine if you qualify, please fill out the appropriate section when scheduling a tour. If awarded bus funding, invoices must be submitted to the Museum for payment within 60 days following the date of the tour.

Drop-In Tours

Don’t want to schedule a tour, but still would like the benefit of a docent? No problem! We offer a variety of FREE adult drop-in tours on a regular basis.

Slow Art Sunday
Every Sunday at 2pm, docents unlock the secrets of works in the Museum’s collection by cultivating the art of looking slowly. Our docents ask and answer questions to help guide your slow art experience and foster conversation. Leave the Museum feeling inspired- not tired!

Special Topic Drop-Ins
Whether it is a tour of an exhibition or special topic or theme, our docents make the galleries come alive.

Check the Event Calendar to see upcoming topics for Slow Art Sunday and additional drop-in tours.
