Two squirrels are depicted within a tree that produces serrated edge leaves and yellowish green blossoms. The lower squirrel reaches out to grab one of the blossoms.
Hand-carved wooden frame in the so-called "whirlwind" pattern. According to Virginia Couse Leavitt, the artist's granddaughter, his earliest frame design "incorporates a scroll (whirlwind) at the center of each side, from which a barbed feather motif extends to the corners."
A black and white photograph shows a figure holding his/her face standing in a woods. The photograph is out of focus which makes the figure almost merge into the woods.
