May 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for an evening of film and conversation as we pay tribute to the late, great Reverend Fred L. Shuttlesworth. The BMA is proud to present a screening of the feature length documentary “Shuttlesworth,” which delves into the life and legacy of the Civil Rights Movement icon. Following the film, we will be joined by the film’s director J. Whitson and producer T. Marie King for a discussion on the film’s importance and its relation to our local community.

King and Whitson will talk about Shuttlesworth’s lasting impact, the evolution of community activism, and the decision to include artist Rico Gatson’s “Fred S.” mural in the film, which was created as a tribute to Shuttlesworth during the 2022 Art on The Rocks event.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the life and legacy of Reverend Fred L. Shuttlesworth, and the continued relevance of his work today. The screening of “Shuttlesworth” is presented in conjunction with our latest iteration of “Wall to Wall,” which features the community mural “Fred S” by artist Rico Gatson.

Join us for this thought-provoking and inspiring evening of film, discussion, and reflection.
