Fall Indian Classical Music Concert

This special concert brings together three outstanding performers of Indian classical music.

Vidushi Mita Nag, a master of improvisation, represents the sixth generation of sitar (lute) players in her family. The daughter and disciple of Legendary sitarist Pt. Manilal Nag and granddaughter of Pt. Gokul Nag , she is an exponent of the Bishnupur Gharana (school), which retains the depth, resonance, and vitality of the ancient meditative dhrupad style.

She is joined by the brilliant shehnai (oboe-like instrument) player Janab Hassan Haider Khan, son, and disciple of the Shehnai Nawaz Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain of Banaras Gharana ( school), who has performed and toured internationally with his father and other notable artists.

They will be accompanied by one of the best known & most powerful tabla ( drum) players Pt. Subhen Chatterjee, who has performed with many of India’s major artists, including Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. V. G. Jog, Vidushi Girija Devi , Pandit Jasraj, Pt. Manilal Nag , Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan to name a few and created one of India’s best known fusion bands Karma way back in 1985.
