Group of ladies and gentlemen converse in an elegant yellow interior with a fireplace on the left and a large chandelier hanging in the center. A couple plays cards on the right.
In this narrow, vertical painting, Saint Benedict stands holding a book and a quill pen. Above his head hovers the Virgin Mary, part of an Annunciation scene completed with the appearance of the angel Gabriel in the companion panel of Saint Augustine.
Scene of the Piazza San Marco in Venice filled with figures engaged in various activities. A basilica and clock tower are visible at the opposite end of the square.
