Round cast-iron medallion depicting an allegory of "Night"—the winged figure of Night floats through the air and carries the twins Sleep and Death in her arms, an owl flies behind her below her wings.
Oval medallion with profile portrait of Charles III (1716-1788), was King of Spain and the Spanish Indies (1759–1788), after ruling Naples as Charles VII and Sicily as Charles V (1734–1759), kingdoms he abdicated to his son Ferdinand. He was the fifth son of Philip V of Spain, and the eldest son of Philip's second wife, Elisabeth Farnese. A proponent of enlightened absolutism, he suceeded to the Spanish throne on 10 August 1759, upon the death of his half-brother King Ferdinand VI of Spain, who left no heirs.
Vase of solid light blue jasper with applied white jasper relief decoration, the round foot with molded, bound reeds, the lower body with a ribbon and ivy scroll, with a band of acanthus leaves and one of laurel leaves at the shoulder, the narrower, elongated neck with acanthus leaves, a band of arabesque of scrolls and flowers, the upper neck with a pattern of acanthus leaves alternating with stiff leaf motifs, the flared edge with a band of acanthus leaves.
Long, oval, shell-shaped dish with mustard yellow edge, the center painted with a scene of three winged cherubs, one draped with a purple shawl, another with a gold one, the three depicted in a huddle among gray clouds.
