This work was painted in animated marks that register as pattern and act to blur distinctions between the figures and their setting. Young has imposed compositional order through a stacked vertical arrangement that builds from urban structures to a row of elongated linear figures, a procession that does not so much carry the huge figure above them as celebrate his ascension into the mountains at the top of the image.
A black and white photographic image of the Monument to Jacopo Marcello in Venice's Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, with its three figures in protective wrapping. The title of the print is rendered in letterpress an old-style seraph typeface and spaced at between ¾-1" below the image, and centered.
