Your Year-End Checklist

/ Uncategorized

Come in from the cold and spend time exploring the galleries! When making plans for the final days of 2019, we hope you will include the Birmingham Museum of Art.

1. Bid Farewell to Black Out. Black Out: Silhouettes Then and Now presents historic silhouettes from the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and other institutions alongside works by contemporary artists who are reimagining silhouettes in bold and unforgettable ways. Birmingham is the final stop of the exhibition, so see it one last time before it closes on January 12, 2020!

2. Explore Barbie’s Dream House. Barbie: Dreaming of a Female Future takes a critical look at Barbie on the occasion of her 60th anniversary, offering an immersive experience where visitors can explore their relationship with the doll through a reimagined, modern dream space. Make plans to visit before it closes on January 26, and check out our list of things to know before you go.

3. Take a Break. If the holiday buzz has you stressed, slow down with Slow Art Sunday, happening every Sunday of the month from 2-3PM.

4.Give Back. During this season of giving, consider supporting the BMA with a year-end gift to our Annual Fund. Every gift, no matter the size, enables us to fulfill our mission of sharing the experience, meaning, and joy of art with everyone. Give back by making a contribution online or by calling 205-297-8214.

You can also support the Museum by giving the gift of BMA membership! Members enjoy exclusive benefits, ranging from discounts at Oscar’s Cafe and the Museum Shop to invitations to members-only events.

5. Shop the World. The Museum Shop offers a thoughtfully-curated collection of items made in Alabama and around the world, including jewelry, sculpture, books, children’s crafts, and more. Museum members, don’t forget to take advantage of your Museum Shop discount!
