By Tatum Preston, Museum Librarian

The Clarence B. Hanson, Jr. Library is pleased to announce two recent gifts to its collection. The first, Rabindra Chitravali, is a four-volume set of books compiling the paintings of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The set was a gift from Sugata and Samindra Sen, Farah and Parvez Sultan, and Dora and Sanjay Singh. The books were presented to the BMA at a special dinner at the Singhs’ home, honoring the contributions the Sen Family has made to the cultural community in Birmingham. The second gift is a collection of 500 Asian art books from Dr. Marilyn Gridley of Lawrence, Kansas. Dr. Gridley is a retired art history professor from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The Library is grateful for these remarkable additions, increasing the size and significance of our Asian art holdings.
