Health and Safety Procedures

The BMA reopens its doors on Tuesday, October 6. The Museum will initially be limiting its attendance capacity to 50% and will return to its normal operating hours ofTuesday – Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sundays Noon – 5pm.

Stay Home if You’re Sick
If you feel sick, have a fever, have experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the past few days, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, stay home

The BMA has been hard at work preparing to make your return as safe and comfortable as possible. Please review the new protocols BMA visitors will be required to follow along with the new safety measures the Museum is currently undertaking:

During Your Visit

Masks Required
All staff and visitors over the age of two are required to wear a mask throughout the duration of their visit.

Physical Distancing Encouraged
Visitors should remain at least six feet away from other individuals and works of art.

Hand Sanitizer Stations
Hand sanitizer stations can be found throughout the building for the convenience of visitors and staff.

Steps we are taking

Limited Capacity
The Birmingham Museum of Art will limit its visitor attendance to 50% of its building’s capacity until further notice.

Regular Cleanings
Rigorous cleanings will be conducted on a regular basis including the cleaning of high-touch areas (such as door handles, bathrooms, etc.).

Closure of Interactives
Touch screens and/or interactives will be disabled or closed until further notice.

Closure of Physical Spaces
Bart’s ArtVenture, the BMA’s family-friendly interactive space, and Oscar’s Cafe, the Museum’s on-site restaurant will be closed until further notice.

Closure of Events
All Museum public programs will take place virtually for the foreseeable future.

All Group Tours Suspended
We are suspending all group tours until further notice.
