Panel Discussion: The Universal Body

Join us for an insightful panel discussion, “The Universal Body,” an exploration of non-gendered and universal representations of the body in contemporary art. Our esteemed panel includes Birmingham-born artist Amy Pleasant; acclaimed choreographer and dance historian Jamorris Rivers; and assistant director of the Magic City Acceptance Center, Lauren Jacobs. This panel will examine the theme of the “universal body” in depth, exploring how our bodies relate to and interact with society, art, and the world at large. The discussion will serve as an intersection of the visual and performing arts, gender studies, and social advocacy, engaging the community in a critical exploration of body representation and identity.
