Beyond Bierstadt: Women Painting the Landscape

December 1 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Many of the BMA’s visitors know Albert Bierstadt’s monumental landscape painting, Looking Down Yosemite Valley, California. But did you know that the Museum’s collection is rich in landscape paintings from the mid-nineteenth century, and increasingly rich in those created by women artists? Join Katelyn D. Crawford, the William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art, to explore the work by women artists featured in the American landscape collection.

Each Highlights Tour offers an intimate look at specific areas of the BMA collection with a BMA curator or educator. Join us to learn something new about our collection of more than 27,000 works of art! Participants of a Highlights Tour will meet their guide in the Main Lobby of the Museum.
