This daytime talk explores how Parker High School, which influenced artist John Rhoden, also shaped the Birmingham jazz tradition. Inspired by the current exhibition Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden, this talk will be led by writer, radio host, and founding director of the Southern Music Research Center Burgin Mathews who will connect the city’s musical and visual arts legacies.
