Join the BMA’s lead preparator, Alex McClurg, for an overview of the strategy and challenges that must be considered when building a museum exhibition. By focusing on our current exhibition, Expanding Darshan: To See or Be Seen in our Pizitz Gallery, McClurg explains the ways BMA’s prep team built this specific exhibition to optimize visitor experience as well as the intersection between his role at the BMA and as a practicing artist.
ArtBreaks are presented in honor of Joyce Benington’s twenty five years as a docent at the Birmingham Museum of Art. These programs, which bring curators, educators, artists, and creatives into conversation with the Museum’s collection and exhibitions, have been generously funded by Joyce’s friends, fellow docents, and members of the Art Focus group, which Joyce has guided through the BMA for nearly two decades.
