Join us for a special Birmingham edition of ART PAPERS LIVE.

Slavs and Tatars joins the Birmingham Museum of Art and ART PAPERS for an illustrated presentation exploring the potential of language as a strategy of both resistance and research into notions of identity, politics, colonialism, and faith.

Founded in 2006, Slavs and Tatars is an art collective devoted to an area east of the Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China, known as Eurasia. Their work spans several media and disciplines and focuses on an oft-forgotten sphere of influence between Slavs, Caucasians, and Central Asians.

Slavs and Tatars’ sculpture Rahlé for Richard (2014) will be on view in the BMA’s Contemporary Galleries from September 2014.

ART PAPERS, an Atlanta-based non-profit organization, produces a print and online publication covering contemporary art and culture. ART PAPERS hosts regular public programs including the popular series, ART PAPERS LIVE.
