Art as Historical Artifacts during the Civil Rights Movement

PriceFree
February 1, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

In conjunction with our latest iteration of Wall to Wall presented by PNC, the BMA welcomes Dr. Martha Bouyer, the educational coordinator for Bethel Baptist Church for an in-depth look into the life and legacy of Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth as an integral figure in the Civil Rights Movement. In this talk, Bouyer combines music, poetry and art as historical artifacts to also suggest the role educators play in advancing the Civil Rights Movement and the proper tools and strategies educators can incorporate within their classrooms to do so.

Art in Conversation is a bi-monthly series at the BMA where curators, museum professionals, and other special guests lead conversations on art and culture.
