Contemporary Gallery Closing

It’s time to say au revoir to Bonjour Julie, Flin Flon VI, and all of the other beautiful works in our contemporary gallery as we make room for an exciting new exhibition, AFTERLIFE: Asian Art from the Weldon Collection, which opens in the fall of 2017.

The Pizitz contemporary gallery is one of Birmingham’s most popular photography and selfie destinations. With floor to ceiling paintings and bright hues that stop you in your tracks, it’s easy to see why this gallery is featured in so many posts on Instagram. Pizitz closes on Monday, May 22, but until then, these larger-than-life works are waiting for you to make one last visit. The good news: you can still get your fix of contemporary art by visiting Third Space, our largest exhibition of contemporary art from the Museum’s collection. It’s sure to become your new favorite place to seek inspiration, spark discussion, and discover your new favorite artist. Go ahead and throw in a few selfies while you’re at it.
