This work is executed in jin wen calligraphic script, a script form that is derived from characters found on the inscriptions of ancient bronzes and stele. The Zi Bai bronze basin, from which this calligraphy was copied, came from the Zhou dynasty (1027-256 B.C.) feudal state of Kuo.
