A single hand-carved piece of wood joined with wood dowels and wood glue affixed to the wall is the crucial anchor from which cast shadows are formed to complete this work. As verbally described to staff and published in the "Black Out" catalogue, the cast silhouette is a self-portrait of the artist.
Nestled into mountains by the water are a complex of buildings devoted to silk production. Mulberry leaves are being harvested and dried. Cocoons are stored as they age and other activities are portrayed inside and outside the buildings.
