In the left foreground of this black and white photograph, a man in overalls leans heavily against the corner of a weathered wooden building. This takes up a full third of the picture. The ground on which the man is standing slopes into the distance, where it meets deeply eroded fields. At the far end of the fields, and located just right-of-center within the image, a lone bare tree stands against a placid sky.
This image is created with black ink on white paper. It represents three partially stuccoed brick buildings. The buildings have sustained some damage, with the building at the front left having a hole in one of its brick corners and the building at the front right being partially boarded up at the side. In front of the buildings is some foliage and a tree stands above the upper left of the buildings. A house located behind the buildings can be seen in the lower right.
