Shrine Pedestal for Shango (ode Shango), Yoruba people, Nigeria, African, wood and pigment
Broad oblong forged-iron blade with very slight concave curve terminates in a straight edge, which extends slightly beyond the oblong on either side (similar to silhouette of a bell); short, conical spike extends from straight edge of blade.
Miniature Lunda Complex mask in the form of the Chokive beautiful maiden type, but lacks the characteristic star incised on the forehead
Rectangular hide apron adorned with glass beads -- predominantly white, but borders and certain patterns in pink, green, blue, and burgundy beads. Waistband is folded over and adorned with beads and small metal rings -- one section is stuffed with straw. Panel of beaded fringe at bottom center of panel.
