Small covered rouge pot of white porcelain decorated in iron red, green, blue and yellow with Asian figures and foliage and with at the foot and around the rim of the domed cover a band with chevron motifs in iron red.
Oval blue jasper medallion with white relief profile portrait of Sir William Hooker (1785-1865), was an English systematic botanist and organiser, and botanical illustrator. He held the post of Regius Professor of Botany at Glasgow University, and was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. He enjoyed the friendship and support of Sir Joseph Banks for his exploring, collecting and organising work. His son, Joseph Dalton Hooker, succeeded him to the Directorship of Kew Gardens.
The egg cup has a waisted form that extends upward and flares out, in, and out again to form the lip of the cup. The cups are glazed and shift in color from a light brown to a dark brown. The egg cups are decorated with irregular lines (either dark or light brown) that extend horizontally around the form. The egg cups have a flat lip. The interiors of the cup are also glazed and feature similar horizontal lines that correspond in placement with the exterior. The bottom of the base is unglazed off-white stoneware.
