Keisai Masayoshi

Keisai began as a printmaker in the Ukiyo-e tradition, designing prints and book illustrations until 1797 when he was appointed official painter to the Lord of Tsuyama. From then on he was primarily a painter until he retired to become a Buddhist monk.
