The work is dominated by a large, irregular area of black paint on the left side of the paper. Strokes of yellow and gray paint are interposed in the area of black. A complimentary shape of blue paint emerges from the lower left side of the painting and winds its way around the black area on the right side. The area of blue is adjacent to a slanted stroke of dark gray paint on the far right. In the center of the work is a square of blue and green paint outlined in black.

A vibrant, boldly patterned composition in black, white, and shades of red, in which a black woman in a striped dress and black man wearing white trousers, a black jacket, and white bowler hat dance in the foreground. A third figure looks on from the upper right corner of the composition.
This image is created with black ink on white paper. It shows a board house with a boarded up chimney and a partially boarded up window, as well as a lurching dogleg off of the back. In the side yard of the house—which is the lower portion of the image—there are two barren trees and a group of three figures playing with a possum. Behind the group of figures is a fenced garden, and behind the fenced garden is a distant row of homes. There are trees behind the homes.
