Black and white press print of a young white male using a shoe to damage the window of an automobile on the right. A group of more young white males stands to the left. The arm of an African-American person can be seen hanging out of open backseat window. Includes caption "Clinton, Tenn., Sept. 1--Negro Tourist Attacked--An unidentified youth last night used one of his shoes to add further damage to an out-of-state car carrying Negroes which was attacked by an angry mob. The mob, fired by a speech by Asa E. Carter, Birmingham, Ala., a White Citizens Council leader, stoned and bounced at least 6 autos bearing Negroes. The tire on this car was also flattened. The Clinton High School was integrated this week and has been the scene of minor violence. The driver of this car ran to police. (AP Wirephoto)"
This inkless embossed print represents a small abstract composition on a larger sheet of paper. In the lower left of the composition, three Greek Delta letters are embossed--the insignia of the artist. The sheet of paper has deckled edges.
This image is created with black ink on paper. This print represents a street corner and a view down a street toward Birmingham’s downtown skyline, with the City Federal building seen in the distance. On the corner stands a corner store with signs for Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale, Coca Cola, and Nehi sodas. Down the left side of the street runs a group of buildings, including a café, a two story building, and a church. A power line stands in front of the corner store and runs down the streets on either side of the corner. There is a large, leafy tree at the right side of the composition.
