Flag bears two green snakes, "veve" of Damballah. They flank a stylized heart referring to Erzulie Freda. Other symbols are the asson and cup, star, and bull's head which represents the "loa" Bossou.
Flag is based on the traditional chromolithograph image of Erzulie Danthor (also spelled Dantor, Danto), taken from the dark-skinned Polish Virgin of Czestochowa. Mother and child are surrounded by floating flower-shaped stars.
