Robert Barry (Subway Drawing)

William Anastasi

2005

Anastasi began making his ongoing series of blind drawings in 1963. The subway drawings and theater drawings are subsets of this series that he creates with his eyes closed or blindfolded, and in situations where external factors, such as the motion of a subway car, or the duration of a play, determine the works’ visual form.
