This circular, black and white print represents a number of figures moving logs down a river using log rolling hooks. In a distant boat there are two figures, as well as four on the left bank and three on the right bank of the river. Two central figures dominate the composition, spearing logs with the pointed ends of their log rollers. At the bottom of the print is a small still life that includes some of the implements of logging—a long saw, an axe, a log roller, and a chain—draped over a tree stump.
Two woodpeckers are depicted on a thin branch that produces pointed oval leaves and black berries. The woodpeckers are characterized by red feathers on their heads and brown, black, and white feathers on their bodies. The upper woodpecker also contains red feathers on its neck.
