This black and white photograph shows a valley in the desert between two rocky outcroppings framing the landcape at the left and right of the image. The landscape extends into the distance, showing a number of receding mesas.
This watercolor represents a dry docked boat at the right of the composition. The boat is not entirely represented, but is instead cropped by the edge of the sheet. There is a ladder leaning against the side of the boat, and two posts prominently standing in the foreground. Behind the boat is a calm body of water, on which another boat can partially be seen. In the distance is a house and a loose green passage, alluding to a landscape.
A barren field fills the foreground; its far edge is lined with tall weeds. At the center of the image, against a partly cloudy sky, is a billboard that bears the text, “For Sale Lots for Colored Call HE24457 Now”. Beside the sign are wire laden telephone poles.
