Small oval teapot of light buff-colored caneware, the upper body molded to look as though it has an irregular, "feather-edged" border picked out in bright blue enamel, the lower body decorated with a series of floral garlands that run around the body — bright red roses, small blue flowers, green leaves — the upper edge with a band of white enamel highlighted with stylized green anthemion motifs between dot borders, the ear-shaped handle molded with modest leafy décor, the gently curved spout with similar "feather edge" molding highlighted in blue, the flat cover with the same white enamel border and molded decoration picked out in blue, with recumbent spaniel as knop.
Oval black basalt medallion with relief profile portrait of Vitellius (15 AD - 69 AD) facing right. Aulus Vitellius was a Roman Emperor reigning for 8 months between 16th April AD 69 and 22nd December AD 69 before being assasinated. Vitellius was quickly proclaimed emperor after the quick succession of the previous emperors Galba and Otho.
