This black and white photograph represents a storefront door and window, with a small segment of the shop's awning pictured in the upper right corner. Through the storefront window, two signs can be read and a third can be seen laying crumpled on a ledge. The first legible sign is hung at the top of the window, advertising Coca-Cola. The second reads: "Phrenology / She reads your head like an open book / She speaks several languages / Step in," with an image of head subdivided and numbered at the center. There is also illegible text at the top of the image, cut off by the awning, and "AVAL BRIGADE" reflected from across the street in the shop window.
