Matrika Maheshwari with the Zebu Bull Nandi

India

About 750

The Matrikas are worshipped as seven sisters all over India. They are feared for their powers and and are considered both protectors and trouble makers if angry with someone. By worshipping the Matrikas one brings the family under their protection. Because of the cow behind her and the matted locks piled on her head this is probably Matrika Maheshwari; she represents the female evergy (shakti) of Shiva.
