Creamware fruit basket and stand, both with a basket weave design in the well, the basket with open woven sides and a double woven band entwining the edge, the stand with pierced rim, and both basket and stand trimmed in cobalt blue.

Oval black basalt medallion with relief profile portrait of Mahomet II (1430-1481) Sultan of Turkey. born at Adrianople. Suceeded his father, Murad II, in 1451 and two years later besieged and reduced Constantinople, ending the Byzantine Emprie and giving the Turks a good foothold in Europe. Although he was defeated at Belgrade, he went on to annex most of Greece and Albania.
Oval blue jasper medallion with white relief portrait of Warren Hastings (1732-1818), an English statesman, was the first Governor of the Presidency of Fort William (Bengal), the head of the Supreme Council of Bengal, and thereby the first de facto Governor-General of India from 1772 to 1785. He was accused of corruption and impeached in 1787, but after a long trial he was acquitted in 1795. He was made a Privy Counsellor in 1814.
