Cup and saucer of solid white jasper with lilac jasper dip and applied white and green jasper relief decoration, the cup slightly tapered and with a band of acanthus leaves around the lower edge, the main body engine-turned to create a lilac and white checkerboard pattern with applied green quatrefoils on the white squares, a vine of oak leaves runs around the upper edge, the white loop handle with applied green leaf decoration, the conforming saucer with like checkerboard design and vine of oak leaves running around the outer edge.

His writings influenced Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, many Scottish Enlightenment thinkers, as well as the American revolutionaries. His contributions to classical republicanism and liberal theory are reflected in the United States Declaration of Independence.
