Garland of Corn, Germany, cast iron
Large vase of solid white jasper with black jasper dip and applied white jasper relief decoration, resting on a tall, heavily ornamented pedestal base, the urn-shaped body with round foot decorated with applied white anthemion motifs, the two handles in the form of serpents holding an egg above a small portrait relief of Medusa, the main body with the relief "Apotheosis of Virgil" after John Flaxman featuring winged figures holding wreaths, a seating figure with a lyre and another with a long horn, in the center the figure of Virgil, classically draped and holding a scroll, the cover is surmounted with the figure of Pegasus, the pedestal base is square with truncated corners, at each is a griffin and on the sides are two small reliefs with classical scenes and two small reliefs with fruit and garlands, the border below the upper edge of the pedestal includes scrolling foliage and anthemion motifs.
Rectangular basalt plaque of Venus at the forge of Vulcan. The plaque depicts Venus and Cupid visiting the forge to ask Vulcan to make arms for her son Aeneas. The relief shows Venus and Cupid waiting by a chariot as Vulcan and three other men hammer and forge a shield. With a chessplate in the foreground and a fire to the far right with arches and towers as a background.
Cup and saucer of white jasper with lilac jasper dip and applied white jasper relief decoration, the cup with a series of cupids at play with dogs and birds and insects, one of the cupids plays a clarinet, the handle with molded acanthus leaf motifs and shell terminal, the lower part of the cup and the saucer engine turned with lilac and white stripes, the saucer with applied overlapping acanthus and stiff leaf motifs around the edge, the interior of the cup is lapidary polished.
