The Gion Matsuri is probably the most famous festival in Japan. It lasts the entire month of July and is held in Kyoto. At the end of the festival the streets of downtown Kyoto are reserved for foot traffic for three nights, with food stalls and street entertainers everywhere. As seen in this print, the festival culminates in a huge parade where people pull massive floats through the streets.
