Plaster cast of the Portland Vase taken from the mold that was taken from the original vase from which Josiah Wedgwood made his copies, the two-handled vase in the shape of an amphora, one side shows on the left the image of a nude male emerging from an architectural structure and grasping the arm of a recumbent, draped female figure holding a sea serpent, above her is a flying cupid holding his bow and arrows, to the right is a tree and a nude male figure resting his right leg on the stump, his chin in his right hand, which is resting on his knee; on the other side left is a draped male figure seated on a rocky structure next to a column, he looks over his shoulder to his left at a central figure, a draped, recumbent female, lying on the rocky base, looking slightly left and with her right arm reaching over her head, behind her and to the right is the figure of a draped seated male looking over his right shoulder at the central figure; underneath each handle is a bearded mask; the base with the image of a cloaked figure, head lowered, wearing a wrapped headdress, with right arm raised to face, in the background foliage.
Statuette.
Small heavy, hollow cylindrical drum, with holes at top and bottom, for a chandelier or other lighting device of tricolor jasper – solid white with dark blue and lilac dip – with white jasper bas relief, the body of the drum decorated at the top with a band of white interlocking circles framed by beading on a lilac ground, at the bottom a band of leaves and berries framed by beading on a lilac ground, the central section divided into four reserves on dark blue ground separated by anthemion and acanthus leaf dividers; the reserves hold bas reliefs in white jasper of 1) Nike and a Warrior – Nike carrying a palm branch symbolizing victory stands on one side of the statue of Athena with a helmeted warrior on the other; 2) The Dipping of Achilles – Thetis holds Achilles by the heel as she dips him into a large vase while a women holding two torches looks on, the symbol of a ram's head is attached to a tree; 3) A Sacrifice to Peace – two women performing a sacrifice to peace at a burning altar, one is standing and the other is kneeling with arms and hands poised in a graceful manner, clasped hands appear in relief on the side of the altar and the standing figure holds an olive branch – both are symbols of peace; 4) France and Minerva Joining Hands – the figures of France and Minerva joining hands before an altar upon which stands the figure of Faith, made to commemorate the French Revolution.
Dragon lustre bowl with blue exterior and mother-of-pearl interior. The outside of the bowl is decorated with a golden, endless Greek key pattern along the upper rim. A golden pierced band pattern is at the bottom rim of the bowl. A solid golden trim is at the top and bottom rim. Two outstretched three-legged, four-clawed golden dragons with scales and a curled tail stretching across one half of the bowl, each. The dragons have outstretched tongues, bulging eyes, a mane and some spikes along their backs. The spikes, part of the face, and claws are highlighted with red glaze. The dragons have a cross on their upper jaw and a dragonfly hovers in front of them. There is a golden, cloud-like motif with red glaze dividing the two dragons. The upper rim of the inside of the bowl is decorated with a golden arabesque pattern. At the bottom is a fierce, four-legged, curled dragon with a mane. His right front leg is grasping a part of his tail. Different parts of the dragon’s body are highlighted with red, blue, orange, yellow and green glaze.
