Large, oval, bell-shaped dish cover of creamware, painted in green enamel on both sides with the arms of Abney and Bracebridge (see notes) within a ribbon-tied garland, the lower rim is edged in green and the lower body has a band of dangling laurel leaves in green enamel suspended from pink stems, at the top a pattern of pink and green cabbage leaves surrounds the loop handle, which is edged in green and has a decorative X at the base.
Oval basalt medallion with portrait of David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty (1871-1936) born in Nantwich Stapeley he grew to become a important Royal Navy officer fighting in the Madhist war and the Boxer Rebellion and later becoming the commander of the 1st Battlecruiser Squadron at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He was awarded many high ranking medals and became a Member of the Order of Merit and given the title of Earl Beatty in 1919.
Shallow dish or tray of white jasper with dark blue jasper dip and white relief decoration, of rectangular form with truncated corners, the interior with a band of oak leaves and acorns around the edge, in the center well a central decorative element comprised of acanthus leaves and anthemion motifs, on either side one of the Muses, Erato, Muse of Amorous Poetry holding a lyre, and Euterpe, Muse of Lyric Poetry holding two pipes, or flutes.
