The elderly Tobit, dressed in a red cloak, is seated just left of center. The archangel Raphael, in a white robe and blue cloak trimmed in gold, stands before him. The angel reaches his right hand toward the medicine held by Tobias, who stands behind his father, Tobit. In the left background, a woman bends forward carrying an object, probably the fish from which the medicine was made. The scene takes place in a dark and rustic barn, complete with a chicken at the feet of Tobit and a rooster atop the slightly ajar barn door. The edge of the barn door is on a direct vertical with one of the legs of Tobit's chair. In the lower right corner lies a moneybag.
