The painting is dominated by a seated female figure gazing directly at the viewer She wears a dress of white and gold material edged in red with long gauzy sleeves a red head covering and elaborately decorated jewelry including a headband earrings multiple necklaces bracelets and rings She holds a staff in her proper right hand and a long decorated pin in her left Before her is a doll dressed in a medieval costume with a pin stuck through his heart A tall slender candle is just behind her proper right arm On the other side is a table covered with a cloth On the table is a platter with a skull and an upside down crucifix The female figure is seated within a pentacle inscribed on the floor another is directly behind her on the wall Also on the back wall to the left of the pentacle is a skeleton to the right of the pentacle is a series of numbers inscribed in squares
