Green and white jasper with one of Flaxman's Seasons
Wedgwood oval blue jasper plaque, presented to all Wedgwood employees who went to fight in the Great War 1914-1919, this particular plaque was presented to Private, Ernest Bailey of the Royal Defence Corps who before going to war was a painter at Wedgwood's Etruria factory. The front of the plaque has a border of leaves which surround the central scene of Minerva and two other figures with a banner Justice and Liberty 1914-1919.
So-called "Fairyland Lustre" octagonal bowl, outside painted from the Woodland Elves VI series in "Fiddler in Tree": massive tree trunks with branches bearing large green leaves form arches under which fairies play. A fiddler is perched on a branch above leapfrogging elves. Painted in gold, purple, green and pale yellow. Inside painted in "Ship and Mermaid": Mottled pillars supporting ogee arches with a rose-backed grille reveal a type of mediaeval French chateau on a rocky shore and a collection of objects: a galleon in full sail, the head of a crocodile, a mermaid and a dovecote on a small island with two bat-winged figures seated back to back.
Pair of solid white jasper vases with black jasper dip, applied white jasper relief decoration and green jasper accents, each baluster shaped on round foot decorated with band of white and small shell motifs all around, the main body engine-turned to reveal a checkerboard pattern in black and white, the white squares with small applied green jasper quatrefoil motifs, between vertical bands of scrolling acanthus ornament, the pinched shoulder with stylized anthemion motifs, with flared lip, the covers are missing.
