Large, heavy, footed compote of black basalt from the range of Pomona Ware designed by Paul Follot and modeled by Bert Bentley at Etruria, the wide foot with a band of beading around the edge, the thick stem fluted and with a row of stylized leaves around the top where it meets the bowl, the deep, round bowl has a thick lip and is decorated with six large, hand-applied, molded apples set among the leaves and twigs of an apple tree.
