Buffalo Hunt Chase, George Catlin, lithograph

The vertical framing and the narrow print of the photograph highlights the height of the partially cropped high-rise buildings on either side of the centrally framed street. People can be seen walking on the street along with cars. Sunlight sneak through the surrounding tall buildings, illuminating the street with horizontal bands of light.
A bright red house against a vivid blue sky. The windows and door have white mullions and the black panes denote darkness within the house. A black-and-white checkerboard patio occupies the foreground to the right, while purple irises grow in the extreme foreground at left.
