Mount, or fitting, for a monocular (single lens telescopic opera glass) of white jasper with dark blue jasper dip and white relief decoration, with a border of anthemion motifs at the wide end below a band of rolled ribbon, on the main body are two scenes in white relief, on one "The Cupid Seller" and on the other a group of warriors before a seated figure, the scenes separated by small trees, above the scenes are a series of garlands below a band of small floral elements, designed to be fitted into gilt-bronze and ivory mounts.
Oval basalt medallion with portrait of David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty (1871-1936) born in Nantwich Stapeley he grew to become a important Royal Navy officer fighting in the Madhist war and the Boxer Rebellion and later becoming the commander of the 1st Battlecruiser Squadron at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He was awarded many high ranking medals and became a Member of the Order of Merit and given the title of Earl Beatty in 1919.
