Lithograph depicting an African American man in the foreground, wrists bound behind his back, on his knees, peering out toward the viewer. In the background, a sheriff stands with arms crossed, looking in the direction of the man. Cactus plants appear in the background, insinuating the scene takes place in a desert. Residual ink from the printer's plate, wiped in a swirling motion, surrounds the figure in the foreground, emphasizing his presence. The title of the print,"La Frontera," appears on the bottom right corner.
Large wrought-iron and wood bench composed of a pair of stylized figures flanking a backrest with a drapery and swag design above a rectangular seat and bifurcated legs joined by a single rod stretcher, the backrest and seat upholstered with scraps of fabric pieced together to resemble a kind of quilt design.
