An East-Side Politician

Frederic Remington

About 1894

In addition to his work as a painter and sculptor, Frederic Remington was known as a talented and prolific illustrator, his work appearing in many of the country’s leading periodicals in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A popular and oft-published author, Remington frequently illustrated his own stories, but sometimes provided images for articles by other authors. This picture of a fat-cat New York politician appeared in Harper’s Weekly on January 27, 1894.
