Art In Conversation: Wall to Wall

/ Virtual Programs

For this edition of Art in Conversation, we explored the work of indigenous Alaska-based artist, Merritt Johnson. The inaugural iteration of Wall to Wall presented by PNC features four works created by the artist. These works have been constructed into large wall coverings that stretch across the lobby and cafe walls, creating an immersive exhibition experience. In this conversation, Dr. Emily Hanna, the Curator of the Arts of Africa and the Americas, and Hallie Ringle, Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art, give context to her work and discuss the series of paintings and its relation to Birmingham.

Art in Conversation is a monthly virtual series at the BMA that highlights a work of art and invites visitors to join in the dialogue.
