Curatorial assistant Hina Zaidi takes a virtual deep dive into the relocation of temple Abu Simbel, which is featured in a lithograph in our latest exhibition, Ways of Seeing: Buildings and Monuments. In 1950, the Aswan Dam had to be constructed to control unpredictable annual Nile floods, but the Egyptian people realized that by doing so, it would submerge the temple.
