5 Things to Do at Hispanic Heritage Festival

/ Kids and Families - Programs

Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with a celebration at the BMA! Join us on September 16 for a day of festivities, featuring gallery tours, dance performances, art activities, face painting, and much more. With so many opportunities for family-friendly fun, here’s a list of just a few of the things you won’t want to miss.

  1. Salsa and Bachata lessons
Grab your dancing shoes and join Rumba Latina Birmingham for Salsa lessons! The group will perform Salsa and Bachata throughout the day, so even if you don’t hit the dance floor, you can enjoy the beauty of this tradition.
  2. Gallery tours in Spanish
What’s a day at the Museum without a tour? Explore the BMA’s galleries with our Spanish-speaking tour guides in these  exclusive festival tours.
  3. A movie the whole family will enjoy
If Saturday is your day to unwind with a trip to the theater, don’t worry. We’re showing The Book of life in Spanish at 10:30AM in the auditorium.
  4. Lunch in the Sculpture Garden
It wouldn’t be a fiesta without local latin fare! Enjoy delicious Puerto Rican cuisine at Tropicaleo’s pop-up restaurant in the cafe.
  5. Interactive art activities
Visitors of all ages will enjoy crafts inspired by latin culture and traditions. Make your own embossed metal art, maracas, watercolor art, and more.
